Get to know our resident Lead Vet, Dr Callie – what she loves about working with animals and the advice she wishes every pet owner knew.
What inspired you to become a veterinarian?/What inspired you to work in the veterinary industry?
I have always wanted to be a vet since being a little girl. Growing up on a property with dogs, cats, horses, and a family with cattle, I was surrounded by animals from a young age!
Do you have any pets of your own?
I have 2 cats. Ophelia and Othello! Ophelia is a chatterbox and Othello is basically a dog who fetches and everything!
What do you love most about working in this community?
I love getting to know people through their pets and being there to help when they need! I also love the cohesiveness of the clinic in general! We really have all become family, and I hope that transfers to our care of patients!
What’s one piece of advice you wish every pet owner knew?
I wish everyone would take the time to research the time and specific care certain breeds or animals require! Talk to vets about what animal you are thinking of getting prior to getting it to ensure you can give them the best care possible!
Do you have a favourite animal? What is it and why?
Cats! They are angels sent from heaven! I grew up with all sorts of animals, but I have always been a cat girl at heart!
